Jasmine stomach was fluttering about. The masquerade was only a few minutes away. Jasmine sat cross legged on her bed. She really wanted to go but she didn't have a date, which didn't matter. She hated being to early to things. She couldn't stand it any longer. She ran over to her wardrobe and flung open the doors. She pulled a dress bag and unzipped it. The pink dress was still puffy. It wasn't her type of dress but her friends insisted that she wore it tonight. She bit her lip before unzipping it all the way. Jazz laid the dress on the bed and smoothed it out. She then went to her vanity and opened the first drawer. She smiled when she pulled out the matching mask. It wasn't much but she liked it.
She sat down and began doing her hair. She curled it and then pulled half of it back in a barrette and brushed the tight curls out to make them more loose and wavy. Jasmine spritzed her hair with hair spray. She smiled at her work. She walked over to her dress and pulled it on. She got it zipped up and looked at herself in the mirror. Even though I don't like pink, I love this dress. She thought smiling. She then slid on her shoes and grabbed her mask and a little pink handbag and headed off the ball room.
The high heels made it difficult for Jasmine to walk down the stairs without much noise. She tried to be as quiet as possible. She paused before walking into the ball room. She smoothed her dress and fluffed her hair. Jasmine walked with her eyes up and looking around for anyone she knew. So far she didn't see anyone. She concentrated on the soft click clack of her heels on the floor. Jasmine was quite shy and hated all eyes to be on her. Her face would turn the same shade as her dress. Jasmine loved the song that was playing. Just as she found a spot to dance, the song was over. She silently hoped it wouldn't be a slow song. Sure enough, her fears were confirmed. Jazz had walked herself through what she would do when the time came. The dance floor around her was crowding with couples. She walked over to some chairs. All the couples dancing, it made her head spin. Jasmine had passed up a wonderful chance a while ago. She wished she would have taken him up on his offer.
Jasmine noticed a balcony. She let out her breath, which she just realized she was holding. She practically ran outside. She sighed at looked around. The wind tossed her curls around her face. She was clutching her purse to tight and her knuckles were white. Jasmine released her death grip on her purse. She didn't know why she got so emotional over the slow songs. Even her cousin was slow dancing with her boyfriend. The cool wind felt good on her face and she smiled to herself. Even though she didn't have a boyfriend it was alright. She was surrounded by wonderful people who loved her, including guy friends. She leaned on the stone railing, looking at the scenery. Hogwarts was beautiful. Jasmine wanted someone to talk to but she figured no one would notice her out here. She wanted to go back in there but she just couldn't, not while that song was still playing.
